In 1986, Sister Mary-Ellen Francoeur, a psychologist, was part of the clinical court team to assess young offenders and their families at the Regional Children's Centre.
Sister Francoeur assisted the First Nations communities in the Thunder Bay area. At the request of Bishop John O’Mara of Thunder Bay, she served on an advisory committee to assist the Thunder Bay diocese in creating policy regarding members of religious congregations and clergy accused of sexual misconduct.
